Step aside, Elon Musk. There will be someone new on Wall Street soon with a flashier ride, and even loftier claims, than the braggadocious Tesla boss.

Taking Virgin Galactic public feels fitting in a year where the limits of the initial public offering process are being tested. If Wall Street can stomach the cash sink that is Uber, why not a space tourism company that has no current business at all? And why not bring it public through an odd back door that will avoid the scrutiny a normal IPO would bring?
