A ridge lies over the North Island. A northwest flow continues to build over the South Island today ahead of a front which moves up the country on Thursday, followed by strong southwesterlies, easing on Friday.

Cloud developing in the evening. Northerly swell half a metre or less. Friday: Tending southerly and rising to southerly 20 knots in the morning, easing to 15 knots in the evening. Morning cloud then fine. Northeast swell rising to 1 metre. Saturday: Changing easterly 15 knots early. A few showers developing in the morning, clearing in the evening and fine spells increasing.
