Situation:
A high pressure system moves eastward today as a low pressure approaches from the Tasman Sea. The low pressure system crosses the North Island on Thursday, while a front moves over the lower South Island. A ridge of high pressure builds over the North Island on Friday and Saturday, while a couple of fronts bring periods of rain to the west of the South Island. The high pressure system moves off the North Island on Sunday, and another ridge extends over the South Island from the Tasman Sea, bringing southwesterlies with it.
