Lord Richard Wilberforce, a senior British judge and anti-slavery campaigner, has died at age 95.
He was a great-great-grandson of William Wilberforce, whose campaigning led to the abolition of slavery in Britain in 1807, and carried on the family's concern as joint president of Anti-Slavery International.
Speaking in the House of Lords three years ago, Wilberforce said the slavery his ancestor fought against had been replaced by a more pernicious form: bonded labour, in which people work to pay off debts.
He was appointed a judge in 1961 and elevated to the House of Lords as an appeals judge three years later.
