SYDNEY - Penrith rugby league player Masada Iosefa is confident he will be acquitted, after pleading not guilty to charges stemming from an alleged Sydney pub brawl, his lawyer says.
The 21-year-old appeared at Hornsby Local Court today to answer charges of affray and failing to leave licensed premises last
month.
Iosefa was supported by family members and legal counsel during his brief appearance, at which he pleaded not guilty.
At about 11.30pm (local time) on April 18, it is alleged that Iosefa was asked to leave the Mean Fiddler hotel in Rouse Hill and became violent towards at least one hotel staff member.
The incident allegedly took place outside the premises.
Following his brief court appearance on Tuesday, his lawyer was asked if he was confident.
He replied, "Absolutely."
"He's pleaded not guilty to all charges and that's all - nothing more to say."
Iosefa is not required to appear at his next court date, which is June 16 in Parramatta Local Court.
