Storm 46 Tigers 4
Can anyone stop the Storm? The Melbourne side have been seemingly unstoppable this season as they charge to Premiership.
Wests Tigers stood in their way this week but the Storm merely rolled over the top of them to make it 10 wins in a row.
The Tigers players appeared at times to be unsure as to where to stand on the field. Shuffled more times than a vintage pack of cards, they couldn't measure up.
Scotty Prince has proved so important to the Tigers this season but he was out of sorts as the Storm brought in Greg Inglis, who got in the face of the Tigers captain all night.
Replays would show that the pass for Melbourne's first try was forward by some margin.
Referee Sean Hampstead was apparently fooled by Ryan Hoffman's disguised offload.
Melbourne's second was a more clearcut affair, the Storm going out wide to allow Jake Webster to go over in the corner.
Inglis, drafted into the side to replace Matt King, who was resting from State of Origin duty, almost broke through Wests' lines.
An ankle tap from Prince ended his promising run. It was to be one of many exchanges between the pair who seemed to be having their own private battle.
Webster once again found his way through the Tigers defence for a second time.
If Melbourne were lucky to get away with their opening try, karma was restored somewhat by Scott Hill's effort being ruled to have come up short.
The Tigers grabbed a try shortly before halftime through Jamaal Lolesi but the Storm were looking more than comfortable.
A penalty for the Storm immediately put the Tigers on the back foot in the second half.
A 51st-minute Inglis try put the game beyond them. Billy Slater's grubber found Steve Turner, who seemed supercharged as he rocketed over the tryline.
Cameron Smith was class with the boot all night, as he once again slotted the conversion from the sideline.
The Tigers hardly got their paws on the football in the second half as their season crashed in.
Man of the match Webster would be in twice more for the Storm as Wests looked for the white flag.
Brett White found himself in trouble for a high tackle on Lolesi, which left Wests' only tryscorer looking groggy.
But the Tigers did themselves no favours, even conceding a soft try in the 80th minute from Matt Geyer, Inglis stepping up with the convert.
The Melbourne backline make it difficult to see the title going anywhere else but Victoria.
* The Eels surged into the top eight with their seventh straight win, easily beating the Dragons 28-6 in the Friday night game.
The winning run is Parramatta's best since 2001.
