Skyhawk test flight abandoned

An Air Force Skyhawk was forced to make an emergency landing at Woodbourne airbase near Blenheim yesterday.

The jet was on its first flight since a major overhaul. The pilot was halfway through the test flight over Marlborough when he detected "wispy smoke" in the cockpit.
