Turangi police are trying to track down two missing Department of Conservation signs valued at $1800 each. The signs, stolen on Sunday from mounts at Hinemaiaia Scenic Reserve near Hatepe and the Parikarangaranga Scenic Reserve near Motuoapa, are made of expensive aluminium alloy.
Police believe the material could be used to make a number of things, including alloy boxes, trailer trays or sheets attached to off-road vehicles. Anyone with information should contact police on (07) 386-7709.
