Forestry worker who fell down cliff still in serious condition

A Rotorua forestry worker who fell a distance of about two rugby fields down a Bay of Plenty cliff face on Monday remains in a serious condition.

The 21-year-old is in a serious but stable condition in Tauranga Hospital's Intensive Care Unit.

The worker was replanting pine trees for Tauranga-base Hancock Timber Resource Group about 4km inland from Hawai, north of Opotiki, when he lost his footing and plunged up to 200 metres down a cliff.

He was flown to Whakatane Hospital in a critical condition before being transferred to Tauranga.

He suffered a broken leg, a broken collarbone, and head and neck pain.
