Armed police were called to a Wellington address this morning, after a man forced his way into a house.
Police were notified of the intrusion on Collier Ave in Karori at about 11am this morning.
The victim had answered her door to an unknown male, who the pushed his way into the house.
The victim ran to a neighbour's house and when she returned, her wallet was missing.
Police were still talking to witnesses at the address.
A police spokeswoman said there had been some delays in the investigation due to language difficulties from the victim.
The offender was described as being an unknown race, of average height and solid build, wearing dark clothing and possibly carrying a bag.
Members of the public are asked to report any suspicious activity around Collier Avenue to the Wellington Police on 04 381 2000, or information can be provided anonymously by ringing Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Fire and Emergency was on standby for an early flight from Auckland to Napier today.
