Massive bull shark caught near Swansea causes a stir

A massive bull shark caused a frenzy when it was caught off the coast of Swansea, Australia.

A photo of the aquatic beast was posted by Offshore Fishing NSW, showing the dead shark hanging after "being gut hooked and a huge fight".

The group reports it was "right off the cleaning tables at Blacksmith".

"There must be plenty around," Offshore Fishing NSW wrote.

The shark towers over a man pictured beside it at more than double his height, Newcastle Herald reports.

Many Facebook users commented the shark should not have been killed while others argued that, once gut hooked, the creature could not have been freed.

Incredible images of sharks in the region have surfaced this month.

Using a drone, a bird's eye view of the predators hunting among a thick tide of fish at Fingal Bay was uploaded by Damien Hurley to his YouTube account.
