Inquiry into missing blood sample continues

A blood sample taken from former New South Wales Supreme Court judge Jeff Shaw after a car crash might not have been put in a secure police box at a Sydney hospital, an inquiry has been told.

The Police Integrity Commission is investigating the disappearance of half the divided sample taken from the former judge and state Attorney-General after the crash near his Birchgrove home last month.

Shaw, who resigned from the judiciary on Friday, told the first day of the inquiry yesterday that he had no memory of walking out of Royal Prince Alfred Hospital with both halves of the sample.

One half was intended for the police. The inquiry continues today before Commissioner Terry Griffin.
