Indonesia's new Army chief named

A military leader who has taken a tough public stance against separatist revolts in Aceh and Papua has been named as Indonesia's new Army chief.

Lieutenant-General Ryamizard Ryacudu, who heads the Army's strategic reserve Kostrad, replaces General Endriartono Sutarto who has been promoted to head the entire armed forces.

Ryacudu will be promoted to full general when he takes up the post on Thursday.
