When Hunter Harris decided to draw a picture of the HMNZS Endeavour to give to the military vessel's commanding officer, he didn't just draw a ship. "I drew the ship, then a helicopter hovering above it and a hose for refuelling, and the people on the boat who were helping refuel it, and I put the helicopter so it was hovering above the H because that's where it would be".
Hunter's impressive level of detail caught the eye of Commander Walker, who had visited Hunter's school, St Joseph's Stratford, to talk to pupils there about life on board ship. "She told me she would put it on her wall," says Hunter, who was delighted to imagine his picture travelling the world on the fleet replenishment tanker.
The story did not end there however, a week later, Hunter received a surprise package in the mail, containing a personal note from Commander Sandra Walker, along with a poster of the ship, a magazine produced for the Royal New Zealand Navy and some special coins with the ship's crest on them.

"They are really cool, the poster shows the ship and it looks just like I drew it."
