Thailand's Paradorn Srichaphan won his first ATP Tour tennis title today when he beat Argentina's Juan Ignacio Chela 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 in the final of the TD Waterhouse Cup in Commack, New York.
Srichaphan, 23, who was playing in his second successive final and third of the year, has now won 10 of his last 11 matches heading into the US Open.
He is the first Asian to win an ATP Tour singles title since India's Leander Paes was victorious in Newport, Rhode Island, in 1998.
