Tennis: Russians routed in Kremlin Cup

Dutchman Sjeng Schalken upset second seed Yevgeny Kafelnikov 6-2, 6-4 in the Kremlin Cup tennis semifinal in Moscow yesterday to stop the Russian's bid to win his sixth consecutive title.

It was a bad day for Russia as French qualifier Paul-Henri Mathieu then upset top seed Marat Safin 7-6, 6-4 in the second semifinal to shock a highly partisan 10,000-strong crowd, who were already reeling from Kafelnikov's defeat.
