Concession dividends will no longer be part of pick6 betting with the introduction this week of percentage betting to such pools, the TAB says.
Concession dividends were paid to punters who selected five of the required six winners of a pick6.
They were always considerably smaller than the main dividend if it
was struck.
But from this week the concession will be dropped in favour of percentage betting, which allows punters to take as little as a 5c bet.
Percentage betting will also be introduced for greyhound's six pack, in which the first six dogs in the correct order are needed in a selected race.
Percentage betting is already available for trifectas and trebles but slightly different rules will apply to pick6 and six packs, the TAB said.
If a percentage bet was the only winning bet for a trifecta or a treble it would scoop the entire pool - but that will not be the case for pick6 or six packs.
For example, the TAB explained, if a percentage that was 10 per cent of the normal betting unit was the only winner for a pick6 or six pack it would win 10 per cent of the pool.
The other 90 per cent would jackpot.
"Similarly in the above scenario if there were seven winning 10 per cent tickets, they would share 70 per cent of the pool and 30 per cent would jackpot," the TAB said.
The minimum percentage bet for pick6 and six packs, as for trifectas and trebles, will be $5 and the minimum unit cannot be less than 5c.
It starts tomorrow with a pick6 at the Wellington greyhound meeting and there will be a $20,000 guaranteed winners' pool.
On Thursday, there will be a $100,000 harness pick6 at Cambridge and a $20,000 greyhound six pack at the same venue.
On Friday night, there will be a $100,000 harness pick6 at Addington.
And on Saturday, there will be a $100,000 gallops pick6 at Hastings, which should be popular because of the quality fields at the meeting.
As an extra incentive by the TAB, for the first 10 days (from midday tomorrow to noon on August 30) punters taking one of the new bets through their TAB account will go into a draw to win one of 10 $50 account top-ups.
The draw will apply to phonebet, touch tone or internet bets. It will not apply to cash bets.
