Basketball: Kidd leads Nets to victory

Jason Kidd came up one assist shy of a triple-double in leading the New Jersey Nets to an 87-79 win over the Washington Wizards in NBA play yesterday.

Kidd, who was ejected after throwing an elbow in the win over Indiana, collected 18 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists.

The Wizards got big games from veterans Jerry Stackhouse and Michael Jordan, who both topped 20 points.

In Houston, Yao Ming got a career-high eight points in the home side's 88-76 win over the Toronto Raptors.
