Athletics: Freeman separates

Australian Olympic 400m gold medallist Cathy Freeman has separated from her husband, American Alexander "Sandy" Bodecker.

The announcement comes after Bodecker's recovery from cancer and Freeman's decision last year to cut back her training to help him through his illness.

Bodecker has returned to work in the United States, while Freeman is training in Australia as she prepares for the world athletics championships in Paris.
