"We will also be conducting road checkpoints to focus on alcohol-related harm and offending by young people. Retailers and licensees will also be reminded of their obligations not to supply minors with alcohol.
"This is a prevention operation," Mr Edwards said.
"We consistently encourage members of the public to contact us if they are concerned about the behaviour of young people in their communities.
"If they are behaving suspiciously, being disorderly or drinking in public places when they are clearly underage, we want to hear about it."
Anyone with concerns about youth offending can call Auckland central police on 09 302 6400.
