Insoll Ave School reopens

Hamilton's Insoll Avenue School pupils will return to classes today but the parents who forced the school's closure will not guarantee to stop protesting.

The board of trustees closed the school for three days last Thursday, claiming that parents protesting outside over the bilingual unit had created an unsafe environment.



The parents, school and Ministry of Education representatives were to discuss the problems at a hui at the school hall yesterday, but the parents did not turn up.

Spokeswoman Miriama Hohua said the hall had a Maori blessing but they needed to meet at a marae for open dialogue and healing. Tainui kaumatua is to mediate between the groups.
