Dunedin family lose second home to fire

A Dunedin family have lost two homes to fire in 15 months.

Their house was destroyed and adjoining property and a car damaged by fire at the weekend.

None of the five people in the house at the time was injured.

However, a fire that gutted the family's home early last year "was as near to a fatality as you can get", fire safety officer Barry Gibson said.

The weekend fire is not being treated as suspicious.
