Rescue teams today found a man's body in a forest southeast of Rotorua, where the car of a missing Rotorua hunter was discovered this afternoon.
The body has yet to be identified.
Rescuers have been searching for the 69-year-old Rotorua man since he was reported missing on Sunday evening after failing to return from a hunting trip.
The man was initially believed to have gone into the Whirinaki Forest Park near Minginui, 95km southeast of Rotorua, after travelling through the Kaingaroa Forest.
The man's white Toyota Hilux was discovered in a forestry block this afternoon.
The Rotorua based Tenon Rescue Helicopter had been searching since day-break this morning, using specialist thermal imaging equipment to search the dense bush and forest.
Members of the man's family had also been involved in the search.
