Works of Malcolm X protected

The largest known collection of personal writings by the slain black militant leader Malcolm X, which was almost sold at auction last year, will be housed at a research centre for black culture in New York.

A deal deposits the collection at the New York Public Library's Schomburg centre in Harlem for 75 years while retaining all ownership rights for the family and estate of Malcolm X, ending a legal battle to stop a sale of the collection by an anonymous individual in Florida.
