Single ticket scoops record UK lottery win

A British ticketholder has scooped more than 100 million euros (NZ$201 million) in the EuroMillions draw on Friday - the largest ever lottery win in the UK.

A spokesman for Camelot, which operates the lottery, told AFP: "This is absolutely fantastic news - and the biggest-ever lottery win in the UK.

The winner was the only player to use the numbers 1, 17, 31, 43 and 47 plus the Lucky Star numbers 02 and 03.

The total win totalled a colossal 100,037,101 euros - the third largest in EuroMillions' six-year history.

The largest was a 126.2 million euro prize won by a 25-year-old Spanish woman in May last year.

EuroMillions tickets are sold in Austria, Britain, Belgium, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland.
