Qantas flight makes unexpected landing

Landing-gear doors dropped off a Qantas 767 jet on a flight between Cairns and Darwin on Tuesday. Qantas was yesterday still searching for the two 1.5m by 1m doors, and suspects that they may have come off on approach into Darwin.

The plane, with 221 passengers, was flying from Cairns to Singapore via Darwin. The passengers flew on to Singapore in a replacement jet. Qantas, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau are investigating.
