Peru grave evidence mounts

Peru's Truth and Reconciliation Commission has found more than 4000 unmarked graves believed to date from political violence between 1980 and 2000.

The number of bodies found in each grave varied from two or three to up to "a couple of hundred", commission member Enrique Bernales told a local radio station.

He said the commission had initiated its task in June 2001 believing that only 150 mass graves existed, but the number found after two years of searching rose to 4160.
