New Zealand news cameraman Olaf Wiig has been hurt dodging a molotov cocktail in Egypt as he covered riots for Fox News.
Wiig, who was once married to New Zealand radio and TV reporter Anita McNaught, suffered head injuries and a broken cheekbone.
His mother Carol Wiig told NZPA from Wellington this morning the family was still waiting for more information but hoped he would make a full recovery.
Wiig was one of several foreign journalists injured as they covered the riots which began with the protest movement to remove President Hosni Mubarak from power.
Wiig was believed to have been fleeing a molotov cocktail in Cairo with another journalists when he was injured.
In August 14, 2006, Wiig was taken hostage in the Gaza Strip.
He and fellow hostage, newsman Steve Centanni, were released after 13 days in captivity.
While they were being held they were recorded on video tape at gunpoint saying they had "embraced Islam with the Islamic prophet Muhammad as their leader".
