Berezovsky arrested in London

Boris Berezovsky, billionaire and arch-enemy of President Vladimir Putin, has been arrested in London after Moscow issued an extradition request.

Berezovsky, who went into self-imposed exile after Putin's election three years ago, was charged with defrauding a Russian regional government of $3.45 million. The case involves one of his companies, LogoVaz, which was a dealer for Russia's largest carmaker, Avtovaz.

Berezovsky, who has claimed asylum in Britain, says the charges are politically motivated. He became one of the richest and most powerful men in Russia in the 90s thanks to his close connections to Boris Yeltsin's family.
