The driver of a car that overtook a school bus, hitting and seriously injuring a cyclist, pleaded guilty in Masterton District Court yesterday.
Jessica Louise Collins, 22, of Wainuioru, was convicted of carelessly using a motor vehicle causing injury and remanded at large until November 19 for sentence.
Prosecutor Sergeant Garry Wilson said that on March 30 around 8am Collins had been driving a Toyota car south on Longbush Rd, near Carterton.
Ahead of her and travelling in the same direction was a school bus picking up children.
Collins approached the bus as the two vehicles came to a left-hand corner which lead on to a straight stretch and, looking left of the bus, determined the road ahead was clear, but failed to check an obscured road on the right side of the bus.
