New Zealand doubles player Artem Sitak and his Dutch partner Wesley Koolhof have been beaten in the first round of the ATP tournament in Geneva, the Kiwi's final event the French Open starts this weekend.
Sitak and Koolhof have lost a tight match against American Scott Lipsky and Spaniard David Marrero 7-6 (6) 4-6 10-7 in 1 hr 37
It's the second straight first round loss for the pair heading into the year's second Grand Slam but in reality it could have gone either way and wouldn't have dented their confidence too much.
There were no breaks of serve in the opening set and Sitak and Koolhof secured the only break early in the second to go on to force a deciding match tie break. Again it was tight and could have gone either way.
Sitak and Koolhof will now head to Paris to acclimatize to what is expected to be a hot start to the French Open with temperatures into the 30's over the weekend.
