Halfback Grant Rovelli is leaving the Warriors and will play for the North Queensland Cowboys in next year's NRL.
Rovelli, 25, made 68 appearances for the Warriors over the past three seasons and had a year to run on his contract.
Chief executive Wayne Scurrah yesterday said the
club had agreed to release him early.
"We appreciate the great service he's given the Warriors and we wish him well in his career at the Cowboys and beyond," Scurrah said.
Rovelli has signed a two-year contract with the Cowboys, the club he played for as a junior.
His move is not a surprise, given the competition for spots in the halves at the Warriors next season.
Among the contenders are veteran Stacey Jones, who is making a return to the NRL, and Nathan Fien, who showed excellent form for the Kiwis in their triumphant World Cup campaign after shifting from hooker.
