Rugby League: Tussle over Andrew Johns

National Rugby League powerbrokers held an emergency meeting with Newcastle Knights star Andrew Johns' manager, John Fordham, yesterday in a last-ditch bid to prevent the world's No 1 league player from switching codes.

Johns is believed to be tempted by an offer - reportedly worth A$1 million over two years - to play five-eighths for the Waratahs in the Super 12.
