Rugby: Hurst quitting

Former Canterbury captain and halfback Ben Hurst has quit rugby. The 26-year-old said missing out on Crusaders selection for 2003 had "really opened my eyes in terms of having a plan for when rugby finishes".

Hurst, the son of former All Black Ian Hurst, was on the outer at Canterbury, where Jamie Nutbrown is Justin Marshall's backup. He will move to Auckland to pursue business interests.
