Racing: Society Beau set to continue good form

A solid workout at Matamata yesterday showed that Society Beau is ready to carry on his good form at Ellerslie on the weekend.

Galloping 20 metres out on a heavy course proper, Society Beau (Spratt) had pace on throughout 1200m in 1:18.2 and was still travelling well after a final 600 in 39.2. He appears to have gone on the right way since his fresh-up Rotorua win and will start in the open 1400m event at Ellerslie on Saturday.

Like The Wind (C Lammas) underlined her fitness for Saturday's Feilding Cup when working over ground, with the 1200m taking 1:22.4 and the final 600 39.4. Clean Sweep (Coleman) looked on target for Riccarton with an attractive 1200m in 1:20.2, the 600 in 38.6.

Bhandara (Ritchie) continued her preparation for next week's Cuddle Stakes when partnered by Arniston (Weatherley) over 1000m in 1:04.8, the 600 in 38. Stablemate Singasong (Ritchie) prepared for Ellerslie on Saturday when sent over 1200m with Honor Dance (Weatherley) in 1:21.2, the final 600 in 38.9.

Penny Gem (Coleman) had a decent hitout over 1200m in 1:21.4, the last 600 in 39.

She is in good order for her pending Melbourne trip.

Ellerslie two-year-old candidate Roudi Woudi (Coleman) and Streak Of Class (Andrew) strode out well over 800m in 54, the final 600m in 38.8.

Buckle My Shoe (L Innes) didn't appear to enjoy the conditions when working with Endorse (Davidson) over 1200m in 1:20, the last 600 in 39.6.

Artemesia (Teggert) ran her 1200m in 1:27.8, the 600 in 40.4, while Liar Liar (Rattley) and Zedcar (Andrew), who wore blinkers, returned 1:10 for 1000m and 39.6 for their final 600.

On the all-weather track Ellerslie candidates Maloney and Kristov highlighted their fitness with sound work.

Maloney (Gillies) was accompanied by Double Down (L Innes) over a smart 1000m in 1:02.2, the final 600m in 37.5.

Kristov (K Jones) bowled into his work to record 1:19.2 for 1200m and 38.4 for the final section.

Armanasco (Gedge) and Time Spent (Allpress) took 1:07.2 for 1000m, the 600 in 40, while Baritone (C Lammas) and a Gold Brose gelding (Hales) clocked 1:10.6 and 40.2.

Blu Rapture (Weatherley) came in from the 800m in 49.8, the 600 in 37.2. Call It The Blues (Gedge) ran 1200m in 1:28.7, the 600 in 42.

On the sand, which was good, Danex (Rattley) rounded off her work impressively when running 1200m in 1:22.8 and the final 600m in 36.4.

Right On Time (Colgan) clocked 1:03.2 for 1000m, the 600 in 37.2, while another to work well over the same distance was Wallaby George (Hercock) in 1:06.4 and 37.2.

Senorita Ivory and Filante Etoile galloped stylishly together at Takanini yesterday.

Working on a fast plough the pair finished 1200m in 1:14.7, the last 1000 in 1:00.1 and 600 in 36.5.

Daddyknowsbest gave Prince Of Grace a start and was shading his companion in the finish of 1200m in 1:14.8, the last 600 in 36.8.

Takitimu led Jack Flash in the finish of 1200m in 1:14.9, the final 600 in 37.6.

Foxette and Swigilo sped 1000m in 1:00.9, the last 600 in 36.6.

Jiao Dragon and Larinka finished their 1000m in 1:1.1, the last 600 in 37.8.

Aria shaded Filey ending 1000m in 1:1.9, the closing 600 in 37.5, smart time because both carried big weights.
