As sledges go, you could argue Dylan Walker got what he asked for when he was punched by Melbourne Storm's Curtis Scott on Saturday.
Origin hopeful Scott became the first man in three years to be sent off in an NRL match after throwing a wild punch at Walker in the second half of his side's 24-4 defeat.
The blue that followed had fans up in arms after the referee sent Walker, who was the first to cop a punch, to the bin alongside Api Koroisau.
According to the Wide World of Sports show in Australia, Walker had been chipping away at Scott all game.
"He (Walker) was at Scott all game, telling him 'You'll never be anything, you're a nothing'," a source at the match told Wide World of Sports.
"He could see it got under Scott's skin. Then he kept saying 'Hit me, hit me'… so Scott did."
According to reports, Scott faces a two week ban for the punch while Walker is expected tp spend six weeks on the sideline with a factured eye socket.
