Name change for Jade Stadium

The sports venue formerly known as Lancaster Park and Jade Stadium has a new name as of today.

It will now be known as the AMI Stadium.

The announcement comes after a new sponsorship deal and ahead of a $60 million plan to redevelop the East Stand before the 2011 rugby World Cup.

AMI Insurance and venue management company Vbase said it wanted the community to help come up with a new name for the East Stand.

The new development will give the stadium a seating capacity of 41,000.
