Denmark scored three first period goals to shock a patchwork United States 5-2 on their debut at the highest level in the world ice hockey championships in Tampere, Finland, yesterday.
The US team was cobbled together from NHL players, minor leaguers and European journeymen and looked disorganised on defence.
