New Zealand cricket selectors have today named a 12-man team for the one-day series against Pakistan next month.
The most notable omission from the side for the three-match series is wicket-keeper Adam Parore.
However, chairman of selectors, Sir Richard Hadlee said Parore had not been excluded from the team, but would be
evaluated alongside New Zealand A keeper Chris Nevin.
"Clearly we will need to add a wicket-keeper to the squad and the commentators will rightly surmise that decision is between Adam Parore and Chris Nevin," he said.
"Adam was not the only senior player to disappoint in Sri Lanka - and he has not been ruled out of the one-day side for Pakistan - but the selectors want to give further consideration to Chris Nevin as a wicket-keeper and top order batsman.
"Nevin is currently in India with the 'A' side and we will watch his form with great interest."
Spinner Grant Bradburn is the only other player from the Black Caps squad at the recent tri-series in Sri Lanka to be left out.
Hadlee said Bradbrun had not been dropped, but he, like Parore, would wait until next month to know if he had a place in the touring party.
"The panel will wait and watch the performance of Brooke Walker, Glen Sulzberger and Paul Wiseman, who are all in India with the 'A' side."
Black Caps: Stephen Fleming (captain), Nathan Astle, Mathew Sinclair, Craig McMillan, Lou Vincent, Chris Harris, Jacob Oram, Dion Nash, Daniel Vettori, Kyle Mills, Daryl Tuffey, James Franklin.
