A woman has been charged after an incident in which a man was stabbed multiple times in the town of Motueka near Nelson.
Police have arrested a 22-year-old woman in relation to the incident which happened at an address on High St.
The woman was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and would appear in Nelson District Court tomorrow.
Detective Sergeant Mark Kaveney said police were called by ambulance staff about 2am on Wednesday morning to the High St address where a man, aged in his 40s, had serious injuries.
He has since undergone surgery at Nelson Hospital.
The victim of the stabbing remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Police are continuing to make inquiries and would appreciate hearing from
anyone who may have information which could assist the investigation.
