Watching All Blacks play live prizewinner's dream come true

Steve Hsiao is a keen All Black fan but the 30-year-old Aucklander has never been to a game.

So when he won a Herald competition for a trip for two to watch the All Blacks play in Britain, he couldn't believe his luck.

"I follow it every year but watch it from home. I've never really won anything."

Mr Hsiao, a design engineer from Albany, said he and his wife, Judy Chou, were excited about the prize and the potential for meeting players.

The couple will fly to London in November and join the All Blacks' end-of-year tour, which takes in games in England, Scotland and Wales.

They also get accommodation, £1000 (nearly $2000) spending money and two official All Black jerseys.

Mr Hsiao, who immigrated to New Zealand with his parents from Taiwan 22 years ago, said the prize trip came at the perfect time.

"It worked out quite well because it's our 10-year anniversary," he said.

The pair, who married two years ago, wanted to go to Britain for their honeymoon but couldn't afford it.

They had never been before, Mr Hsiao said, and couldn't wait.

"My wife is looking at travel books and seeing where we can go in our free time, and how much free time we will have."
