Two dead after industrial accident in South Auckland

Two people are dead after an accident at a South Auckland steel operation.

The two men died from being crushed by falling steel at Pacific Steel in Otahuhu, Inspector Peter Rosendale of police northern communications said.

One man died at the scene, while another died after being taken to Middlemore Hospital. A third person was being treated for injuries.

Counties-Manukau police were called to the scene as were an Occupational Safety and Health officer and a representative from the Department of Labour, Mr Rosendale said.
