Tracking the lost brolly gets easier

A company that developed storm-proof umbrellas has now come up with a smart brolly that you can't lose.

Blunt Umbrellas, based in Epsom, claims to have developed the world's first traceable umbrella.

It comes with a tiny Bluetooth "Tile" chip hidden inside a specially designed canopy pocket that allows owners to pinpoint its location when lost, via an app.

If the brolly is misplaced within 15m to 30m, it emits a "chip-tune melody" to help its owner track it down.

And if it's been left further out of range, the chip and app, which works for both iPhone and Android handsets, identifies the lost umbrella's last-spotted location.

The high-tech stick umbrella also claims to be one of the strongest, featuring a fully tensioned canopy that doesn't blow inside out in strong wind.

Blunt's website advertises the umbrella for $145. A compact edition is worth $125.
