Te Kuiti shoe factory survives

Te Kuiti will keep one of its long-time employers after all.

Fabia Ltd said in August that it would close next month after 36 years of making shoes.

But the factory will now reopen in March with just under half of its present 50 staff.

Fabia will scale down production, concentrating on its evening and special occasion shoes.
