A stolen truck has rammed into three police cars as a wanted driver made a bid to escape overnight.
Police said a truck had been reported stolen in Christchurch and was being tracked by GPS.
It had ended up parked in the suburb of Phillipstown at 5.30am.
A police spokeswoman
said when police arrived to recover the stolen vehicle a man fled, ploughing into three stationary police cars as he made his getaway.
The truck was tracked to Linwood where cordons were put in place on nearby streets.
