KEY POINTS:
About 2300 litres of transmission fluid has been spilled on a 100km stretch of State Highway One, between Waiouru and Sanson.
Inspector Marty Parker said the spill had caused a truck to jack-knife near Ohingaiti and emergency services were at the scene.
He said there had been reports of cars losing traction and motorists should delay their travel if possible.
