A car driven by a suspected drink-driver crashed into a laundromat in Portage Rd, Papatoetoe, late last night, causing extensive damage.
A police commander at the scene said the vehicle was being driven at very high speed along Station Rd when it went out of control and veered across the Portage Rd/Gray Ave intersection.
He said no one was taken to hospital, and the occupants were very lucky to escape serious injury.
"Anyone who drinks and drives is a bloody idiot."
