Chainsaws and Mowers in Masterton have for the second year running captured the crown as one of the top three Stihl retailers in New Zealand.
Co-owner Jeremy Sharp said the company is on the verge of a name change to Stihlshop Masterton after opening last month in a purpose-built location on
Chapel Street that is one of the biggest of its kind in the country.
The business, run alongside his father-in-law Richard Wilton, today employs 12 people after starting in 2006 with a staff of five in far smaller premises, he said.
The store last year clinched the award for Stihl Outstanding Sales Achievement Central Regions, which runs from Waikato to Nelson, and with the same feather placed in their cap this year ''it looks less like a fluke and more like we're on to something'', Mr Sharp said.
He said winning the title makes the shop one of the top three retailers of Stihl products in New Zealand based on sales volume. He said their retail success is mainly due to a strong agricultural market and ''an even stronger'' forestry sector in Wairarapa.
