The search for a missing Mangere man who fell overboard while on the Waitemata Harbour on Saturday night is nearing the end of its second day.
The man's friends and family desperately scoured the coastline, waiting for any news of their loved one. His father was too emotional to speak,
simply staring out to sea.
The police dive squad and search and rescue volunteers meticulously covered the area he was last seen.
The search for the 29-year-old Tongan national was being focused around the Island Bay and Birkenhead area. The Navy is using sonar equipment to find the man.
A Police media spokesperson said its main focus was on locating the man, with the assistance of the Navy, Maritime NZ, and search and rescue partners.
