Crouch, touch, pause - engage!

More than 200 youngsters managed yesterday to scrummage their way into the Guinness World Records.

A total of 202 formed a scrum at the College Rifles Rugby Club in Remuera as part of the Weet-Bix World Record Scrum attempt.

The youngsters were also treated to some one-on-one time with All Blacks Jimmy Cowan, Hosea Gear, Israel Dagg, Adam Thomson and Colin Slade, who were there to make sure the scrum was a good one.

And the children achieved their goal nicely.

The previous record for the largest rugby scrum was set in Britain in March, when up to 126 students formed one.

Before that, the Guinness World Record stood at 68, also in the UK.
